1.20 Q: What are the prerequisites for achieving self-realisation?
A: 1. Faith 2. Vitality 3. Memory 4. Concentration 5. Contemplative knowledge.

The essentials in the pursuit of self-realization are faith, vitality, memory, concentration and contemplative knowledge. Faith: Having chosen the Yogic way, one should cast aside all doubts and be firm in his conviction that the path chosen will lead one to spiritual salvation. The concept of faith is well illustrated by Robert Murray M’cleyne who wrote:

“My hope is built on nothing less Than Jesus’ blood and righteousness I dare not trust the sweetest frame But wholly lean on Jesus’ name On Christ the solid rock I stand All other ground is sinking sand”

One should have immense faith in the words of the master and the commandments of the scriptures. One should implicitly trust what the teacher says. In the case of Yogic path, several road maps are given and guide posts are described. One’s conviction in the Yogic path chosen can only get further strengthened on such verification.

Faith is the head chemist of the mind

Faith is the eternal elixir which gives life, power and action to the impulse of the thought.

Faith is the only known antidote for failure

Faith is the element, the ‘chemical’ which when mixed with prayer, gives one direct communication with the ‘Infinite Intelligence’

Faith is the element which transforms the ordinary vibration of thought created by the finite mind of man to extraordinary equation with cosmic intelligence.

Faith is the natural inclination of man to turn towards his source

If you have faith no bigger than a mustard seed, you will say this to the mountain: Move from here to there And it will move; Nothing will prove impossible by you.
Jesus Christ
